Being so proud of my only remaining ex battery hen, I had to create a page for my chucks. Baby was one of a group of chickens I rescued from a farm in July 2008 and whose destination was to be pie or petfood. She went broody the following year and successfully hatched 4 out of 6 eggs. This year, around the same time, she was sitting on eggs again. She sat for 22 days on 6 eggs (plus the extras the other hens kept sneaking under her!) I bought from eBay. Unfortunately only one hatched but it is so heartwarming to see her nurture her chick and watch nature succeed when it had once been so inhumanely squashed.
